OUR EVENTS

Netaji Subhash Jyanti ( 23rd Jan) –

It is celebrated by State/ Prant units of the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (ABPSSP) on 23rd January, each year, to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with the aim of enhancing awareness amongst the younger generation about his life and his important contributions to the independence movement.

Azad Hind Fauj Diwas (14th April) –

Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army), led by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was instrumental in hastening the departure of British rulers from India. The ABPSSP celebrates ‘Azad Hind Fauj Divas’ on 14th April, each year because on that day, in 1944, the INA after having liberated a part of British ruled India in the then Assam Province had hoisted the TRICOLOUR at the INA Headquarters at MOIRANG (MANIPUR).  This day is celebrated in most of the states to make the youth of our country aware of the important role played by the INA in our freedom struggle and inculcate the spirit of sacrifice for the nation.

The INA veterans of yesteryears are now ‘forgotten heroes’. To inculcate pride amongst these veterans, the ABPSSP organized a three day programme, called ‘International Reunion of INA Veterans’ at New Delhi, from 19th to 21st April 2002. During this programme, INA veterans from all over the world were invited. These veterans were accorded a grand civil reception at the Red Fort. A park near Red Fort was also named “Chalo Delhi” Park, on that day. The reunion was a great success and was widely covered by the media.

Moirang Yatra (14th April)-

MOIRANG is the place in Manipur where Headquarter of India National Army (INA) was located during Second World War in 1944.   The INA overpowered the mighty British forces on the mainland of India by capturing important places of CHURACHANDPUR,  MOIRANG and IMPHAL of the present MANIPUR State.  To celebrate this historic victory, INA hoisted the TRI – COLOUR (Flag of free India) at its HQ at MOIRANG, on 14th April 1944.

Considering the historic importance of this great victory, the ABPSSP undertakes a YATRA to MOIRANG (MANIPUR), every year, to participate in various programmes organised by the Manipur State Government there to commemorate this historic event which also happens to be their State Day.

Kargil Yatra ( June) –

The ABPSSP undertakes in June, each year, a weeklong yatra from SRINAGAR to KARGIL (Ladakh).  The ESM from all the three wings of our Defence Forces visit – SRINAGAR- DRAS- KARGIL, to pay homage to our martyrs in various operations, since 1947, especially those of 1971 Indo- Pak War and 1999 Kargil Operation, by visiting various War Memorials, there.

Additionally, ESM interact with the serving Army personnel enroute to promote esprit-de-corps, induce pride and honour in our soldiers by highlighting the fact that they are fulfilling their duties with utmost devotion in a rather hostile environment.  This goes a long way in strengthening the bond between the ESM and serving soldiers, by show of mutual respect and admiration.

Vijay Diwas (16th Dec) –

‘Vijay Divas’ is celebrated to commemorate the great victory of our armed forces during the Indo-Pak War -1971. It was on 16th December 1971 when about 93000 Pakistani soldiers were taken POW in East Pakistan( now Bangladesh) consequent to the biggest ever surrender, by the Pakistan Army, there. The ABPSSP took the initiative to celebrate this victory for the first time in 1996 when the President of India initiated the programme by paying homage to the martyrs of our Defence Forces at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. Awareness about importance of national security, as also, imparting knowledge about our Defence Services and inculcating pride in the minds of citizens of our country, is the main purpose of celebrating this day.
